What We Do

What We Do

Children growing up in South Africa’s poorest communities are faced with many
challenges, including broken homes, high young unemployment and a failing education system.
We are taking a holistic approach to directly tackle these social concerns.

At LIFE, we reach more than 4000 orphaned and vulnerable children each week (aged 0-18) through dynamic intervention programmes. These programmes have been designed to tackle many of the crises these young people face growing up in some of South Africa’s most impoverished communities.

Challenges

  • - Broken homes
  • - Lack of access to quality education
  • - High youth unemployment
  • - Health concerns, such as fetal alcohol syndrome, HIV/Aids, and TB
  • - Plenty males but enormous lack of fathers

Family homes

Home from Home: The need in the lives of the children as well as a dream from the inception of LIFE, has led us to open a couple homes in the community. Child and Family Welfare oversee the intake of children and we take care of the day to day running of the homes, moms and houses. We have two “mothers of the homes” which they proudly run and are making an impact on the lives of the six children each entrusted to their care. They are Godly and upright ladies who lay their lives down for the sake of the children. It is important to note that all the children are embraced as “family” in the LIFE Family and form an integral part of our planning and resources.

Paramount to the ministry are the elements of WORD, Worship, Prayer, Sport, Nutrition and Education. We embrace all the above through our projects and programmes that children can be part of.

Our Solutions:

Community-Focussed Outreach

Community-Focussed Outreach

We believe in working at the very heart of the communities that we serve. That is why we have strategically positioned centres in 8 of the area’s neediest communities. From here, we provide children with educational support, ministry and a meal every day.

Education

Education

In South Africa, many children are failed by an overstretched education system. This often leads to them either failing to achieve the necessary grades to access post-school opportunities or dropping out of school altogether. Our Bible-based education programmes ensure children get the best possible start in life.

Sustainable Development

Sustainable Development

We have developed a number of programmes to tackle the alarmingly high-levels of youth unemployment in the area. These include life skills training and a job creation project called ISIPHO.
